Here are some of our favourite cleaning tips using cola and lemons that sound strange but really do work:
Remove Burnt-on Stains from Saucepans
Pour just enough cheap own-brand cola to cover the bottom of your saucepan, bring to the boil and stir. Remove from the heat and when you pour the hot liquid down the drain all burnt bits will go with it.
Cut a lemon into large wedges and put them into your kettle, fill with water and boil. Leave to soak over night and after rinsing with clean water you will have a limescale free kettle.
Put of cup of boiling water mixed with half a cup of lemon juice, cook for 30 seconds then after taking the cup out wipe the microwave with a damp cloth.
Cure a Smelly Fridge
Cut a lemon in half, scoop the flesh from one half and fill it with salt. Place in a corner of the fridge to remove unpleasant odours.
Cleaning the Loo
Pour a litre of cheap cola into the toilet, leave for an hour, scrub and flush. The results will surprise you.
Add the juice of half a lemon with a quarter of a cup of olive oil to make a great wood polish. The lemon juice cuts through grime and the oil leaves the shine
